The Covid-19 pandemic has been devastating to many people, but it also showed numerous solidarity and compassion cases. People are coming together in times of crisis to help those in need. We at MelioraWeb saw an excellent opportunity to be part of this movement of compassion.
We saw an opportunity to develop a better and more efficient way for Shopify merchants and their clients to help support causes close to their hearts while shopping online. Store merchants would benefit from improved brand image, aligning themselves with a worthy cause, and buyers would contribute to an organization that matters to them. All that with below the average transactional fees.*
Low Shopify fees
During the Shopify approval process that took several iterations, we could reduce the cost per transaction more than eight times! The Shopify transaction dropped from 20% to only 2.5% because we wanted the charities to receive maximum value. We can ensure that 90% of the donations will be directly transferred securely to the chosen organization! Тhe rest 7.5% goes for a transitional fee. We chose PayPal as a partner in our shared journey, as we trusted its authority and transparent, easy payment integration!
We have spent over 20 weeks on the development of the Sell&Care app allowing each of the U.S. and Canada based Shopify merchants to support one of 41 charity organizations with specific global importance (Wounded Warrior Project, UNICEF, World Central Kitchen, Doctors Without Borders, and 37 more)! What makes this app unique is Shopify store merchants' ability to adjust the donated amount for different products, hold campaigns, and display this information on their storefront.
We designed an intuitive Dashboard and Statistics section, the most important "Create a campaign" page, where the merchant can design his campaign by selecting a Basic or the COVID-19 look and feel. The Campaign Listing is the page where all the past campaigns are listed. An important detail is that only one campaign in a row can be active. We verified every functionality through our QA process to ensure quality and a smooth user experience. We paid particular attention to developing and testing the currency conversion to USD, the countdown clock accuracy when selecting custom Time Zone and the accuracy in charging the donation target amount. Thanks to the intuitive Dashboard and the Statistics section, the merchant can monitor his campaigns' donations and analyze his results for the week, month, etc.
